At Home Cinema Design, one of our most descriptive phrases is ‘the crisp, clean, no cable look’ used by both customers and us. There are definite solutions for the bundles of cables hidden behind your TV or the unsightly trunking running from your TV to nearby sockets.
As mentioned in the TV mounting section, it is becoming more popular to have TVs mounted to living room walls and as a result an increase in the desire for cable management. TV cables can be safety and securely fed through cavities in the walls. Plug sockets can be installed behind the TV and dependent on style of your install and the brackets in use, Sky/Virgin boxes and games consoles can be concealed behind the TV.

We use a host of cable management products to ensure all cable and electronics are organised and accessible. The idea is that you could remove your TV from the wall and all the cables would stay clipped and organised in their place.
You are likely to have a cabinet somewhere in your living area that houses electronics such as consoles, DVD players, AV receivers and Sky/Virgin boxes (ones that are not mounted behind the TV). We will also manage and organise these cables, mounting them to the inside back of the cabinet for your ease of access and future management.

If you are planning to install AV in a new home, extension, or a room that is being completely renovated, first fix electrics would be installed during the initial part of the construction or renovation. Cables and all electrical equipment can be installed behind the TV, the goal being that the television can be removed from the bracket, and all of the cables and equipment would remain organised and in place. AV racks are used to centrally house all AV equipment. They allow easy access and management of cabling and equipment. Providing safe and cool storage, this results in a positive impact on the performance of your kit.
